What's the Job all About?

The focus of the Research Associate is to participate in all functions of support of the assay development group for the development of assays aimed at the epigenetic market. Development of new assays and methodologies such as but not limited to the development of new NGS assays focused on ChIP-seq and ChIP-seq like assays, DNA methylation assay, liquid biopsy/IVD and ELISA development. Research Associate will perform assay development under the guidance of research scientist/senior scientist direction. Research Associate will be responsible for maintaining a notebook, analysis of data and presentation of results to the group.


What You Can Offer!

  • Develop new NGS assays and alternatives to ChIP-seq into commercial kits with minimal guidance/input from senior scientist.
  • Execute on experimental protocols with excellence and accuracy.
  • Ability to design and execute well-controlled experiments. Make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results. Suggest additional experiments based on research findings.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of the current literature.
  • Maintain detailed notes of work done and communicate finding to the larger group.
  • Development of methods for mononucleosome extraction from liquid biopsy samples.
  • Perform molecular cloning, protein purifications, PAGE, Western blotting, Immunoprecipitation when required for assay development.
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory and manufacturing techniques, improve protocols, processes and equipment.
  • Works under some supervision and reports to R&D Manager
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years laboratory experience or Master's degree and one year post-graduate laboratory experience. Degree must be in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or other related discipline or equivalent knowledge.
  • Demonstrated proficiency/knowledge of NGS techniques and methodologies including ChIP-seq, qPCR and DNA/RNA isolation.
  • A working knowledge/understanding of DNA methylation and the assays used to investigate DNA methylation would be nice, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of experimental design and demonstrated time management skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of basic laboratory techniques, equipment and materials required.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers, customers, and consumers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to internal processes to improve productivity and streamline department workload.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned by management.
